Luke 1
Zacheriah was a priest he knew the story of Abraham.
His question was not asking how it is technically possible. This was a lack of faith. He was also praying for this to be so but when the prayer was answered he doubted it. Luke 1:8-20
Don’t question who God is when He tells you He will do something
Your doubt affects others around you
What is keeping you where you are is doubt
Zechariah’s obedience brought his healing. Luke 1:13,63-65
Mary was a young woman not a priest but she was highly favored by the Lord. A virgin being pregnant had never happened before and hadn’t happened since. Her question wasn’t lack of faith, but curiosity as to how it was possible. That is why the Angel answered her and explained.
Luke1:34
God doesn’t impose Himself upon you
Some say He is a gentleman
Loving someone is giving them a will. God created us with one.
What Does Saying Yes mean?
Saying No to the world
Saying Yes is agreeing to partner with God. Work still has to be done
Our Yes takes faith
Its an everyday agreement
Yes, it is obedience.
Noah’s “Yes”-
God told him what was to come and gave a plan
Noah said “Yes” by doing all He was commanded to.
Mary’s “Yes”-
God shared His plan and will
Mary gave her “Yes” Luke 1:38
Jesus “Yes”
My will is to do the will of Him who sent me
Not my will but your will be done
Phillipians 2:5,8:
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Is He waiting on your “Yes”?
We say yes to:
Repent and be saved
To His purpose for our lives
Daily- Our Christian lives are a series of Yes
After the “Yes” comes the work
Mary said yes, she still had to give birth, raise Jesus, follow His ministry, and see her dream die on the cross.
Mary understood this principle when she told the servants at the wedding feast “ Do all He commands you to” John 2:5
The first miracle ever performed in Jesus’ ministry came from a group of people’s “Yes”
Noah obeyed and had to still build the cross
Great thing about God is that dream rose again.
When was the last time you said “yes” to God. What is He waiting for your answer about.
The power of a “Yes”-
Without Jesus' obedience we would still be bound to sin.
